Macroscopic and microscopic parameters at day 6 post-infection. Macroscopic C. jejuni induced sequalae determined at day 6 included a clinical conditions and b colonic length. Microscopic intestinal changes were quantitated by the average numbers of c colonic epithelial apoptotic cells (positive for caspase-3, Casp3), and d of proliferating/regenerating cells (positive for Ki67) from six high power fields (HPF, ×400 magnification) per animal in immunohistochemically stained colonic paraffin sections at day 6 post-infection.
