Decrease in intestinal epithelial cells (IECs) expressing TLR4+  cells in distal duodenum after Roux-en-Y anastomosis. Intestinal mucosal cells were harvested 3 days post-operatively and stained extracellularly with EpCam and TLR4 and intracellularly with ZO-1. Samples were then run on either a BD LSRII or Symphony. Normalized TLR4+  IECs (EpCam +  ZO-1+). *p  ≤  0.05–no surgery, n  =  7–9
