From: Amoxicillin modulates gut microbiota to improve short-term high-fat diet induced pathophysiology in mice

Fig. 4

Effect of high-fat diet (3 weeks) and amoxicillin treatment on biochemical parameters in mice. HFD treatment for 3 weeks in mice showed a significant increase in total cholesterol and glucose and a significant decrease in triglycerides. Amoxicillin treatment in HFD mice in the 3rd week caused restoration of the blood glucose level towards the normal range. Values are mean ± SD; N = 6 mice/group. Statistical significance of differences was evaluated by One-way ANOVA followed by Bonferroni post-hoc test (* p < 0.05, ** p < 0.01, *** p < 0.001, **** p < 0.0001). CD: Standard-chow diet for 3 weeks; CD + Amox: Standard-chow diet for 3 weeks and subjected to amoxicillin treatment in 3rd week; HFD: High-fat diet for 3 weeks; HFD + Amox: High-fat diet for 3 weeks and subjected to amoxicillin treatment in 3rd week
