Bacterial translocation following carvacrol treatment of C. jejuni infected mice. Starting 4 days prior peroral C. jejuni infection on days 0 and 1, secondary abiotic IL-10−/− mice were treated with synthetic carvacrol (CARVA; white boxes) or placebo (PLC; grey boxes) via the drinking water. At day 6 post-infection, the abundance of C. jejuni was assessed in ex vivo biopsies derived from a MLN, b spleen, c liver, d kidneys, e lungs and f cardiac blood by culture. The cumulative relative translocation rate of viable pathogens into the respective compartment out of four independent experiments is indicated (in %)
